Envy and Gossip Lead to the Murder of Deacon Trussell

  Poor Deacon Trussell was just trying to be a good servant in the house of the Lord when one little criticism of him was overheard by the wrong person and it ignited a series of careless events that led to him being murdered in church.  Oh, how that little tongue can cause so much trouble - even when it doesn't mean too!  No guns and knives were needed; just a jealous heart and an opportunity to put somebody down.

  The choir was having rehearsal on last Tuesday night when they heard somebody yell from the Treasury Room "Get your hand out of my pocket!"  Moments later, Deacon Trussell stumbled into the sanctuary and collapsed on the floor.  Just before his heart stopped, he managed to pray "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do." and then his heart stopped beating.

  Now that you know what happens in the first scene of the play, come on this journey with us as the detectives sort out the mess that led to this tragic event.  Only 8 main characters are needed (4 male, 4 female).  All of them are great to play because as the characters are interviewed, the personality of each person completely changes depending upon who's telling the story.  Everybody loves a good murder mystery.  Why not use one to teach important truths from the gospel?  This play is great for a dinner theatre, banquet, fundraiser or special event.  It will work during any time of the year.
