I understand the concern but it's really a naiive one. Here are some examples.

All of the presidential candidates received hundreds of millions in donations during this past campaign but none of it was for profit. It was to cover the expenses of running for president. Included in those expenses are paying employees, suits, flights, meals, hotel rooms, grooming, advertising, etc. All of it is acceptable.

Social Services in your city receives funding. Although it's not a public company that has stock and private investors, it receives much more funding than I ever will. Those funds pay salaries, purchases equipment, and pays for literature, advertising, websites, etc. People even get raises from time to time. No one will ever question whether or not it is necessary.

Playhouse Ministries is a social service. We equip people and organizations with the resources needed to meet spiritual and emotional needs in their community. So, yes, we can receive money and still be a ministry.

I'm sure that you can tell by now by looking through the website that a good bit of the money received goes right back into the ministry.

I'm sure that you haven't seen many websites in this genre that pack such a powerful punch. Not only do have membership technology, you can watch videos, blog, chat, set up meetings, exchange files with one another, download tons of resources and much more. All of that cost money.

In the age of youtube and myspace, people are so used to getting these things for free, they forget that private sites don't have secular advertising dollars. We have to generate those funds ourselves.

I hope that this helped. Questions and comments are welcomed.
