The Who's Online Feature that appears on your home page is pretty neat. The purpose is to show who's logged in according to their username. No other information is revealed about the person.

Why do we have it? Our vision is to be a community that actually communicates.

1. As mentioned in the other thread, your group can meet here for whatever reason and chat with each other. By going to the home page, you can quickly tell if the other particpants have arrived.

2. The second reason is to get to know new people. If you click on a person's name, you can instant message them. If you don't like whoever contacts you, you can block them in your account center in 2 seconds.

3. The third reason is to provide instant support for you. It won't take long to tell who the staff is on this site via the forum and tickets. When you see one of us logged in, just click on our name and we can instant message one another.

OTHER USES FOR WHO'S ONLINE

1. It tells you how many unique visitors have been at the site during any 12 hour period. For some reason, it rolls over at around 3:00 pm and starts the count over again. It does it again in the middle of the night. So, the first stat covers those 12 hour blocks.

2. The "How Many Ever" stat tells you the maximum amount of people on the site at once. It doesn't indicate how many people have ever been to the site in it's history.

3. Also, the first line tells you how many members and how many guests are on right now.

Well, I hope that cleared up that portion of the home page and gave you some feeling of security. You're not exposed to the world by that feature. The only way for someone to know who you are is to know your username.
